Agreed, I feel like they have a lot of material that is only waiting to be exploited. The characters are rich and could go in many different directions. There are still a lot of Selecao out there with plans to save Japan. They don't have to rush it, they could give us an interesting take as he slowly unravels all their different theories and why they were chose to be Selecao. Plus there's the genius loli that we could all stand to see more of.

Hmm, you said the right magical combination of words to make it hard to argue.

Truthfully, I was feeling particularly down on Yui when I wrote this post. However, I will say that of the actual household work I've yet to see Yui do much of it. I haven't seen Yui do much of anything besides practice the guitar on occasion. She happens to be a prodigy on guitar but a household functions based on everyone pitching in. It's possible that Ui doesn't want Yui to get hurt and she actually prevents Yui from helping more, but I was more inclined to think that Yui is just lazy.

Cooking dinner requires a lot of time and effort, I unfortunately know :(. Ui could be devoting that time to do other things... Of course this is all heresay and Ui herself seems to enjoy the situation so who am I to tell her she's wrong. As for Ui being a clapper I was referring to episode eight when Ui started clapping along with the music. I wrote a particularly long response to it, but I was more commenting on events I've been to with really annoying people doing the same thing. When Ui does it it's actually pretty cute. It was also pointing out that I haven't learned that much from K-ON!

I do like the sisterly love moments too, but I'm kind of getting a different feeling from Ui as a character than I did in the original manga. Without the "love" moments I felt sometimes that Ui was almost a little embarrassed of her sister (which you still sometimes get in the anime) but when put in stark contrast with the added moments you get a different feeling entirely: Like Ui isn't embarrassed of her sister's antics as there's nothing to be embarrassed of. That's not exactly how I wanted to put it... In some of the scenes it makes Ui similar to Yui. It also kind of makes her seem less intelligent at some points... Wow I really have no backing for that comment. I'm going to stop digging a hole here.

Not sure I understood the part about Ui (that's a weird name) being a 'clapper', but it turns out I actually kinda like the Ui-Yui moments, despite the fanservicey vibes they sometimes emanate. I don't think it's about being kind once in awhile and useless all the time. Being absent-minded and hopeless in housework just means you're messy, and that doesn't necessarily mean you can't do anything for yourself. Yui caught on magnificently well with her guitar for example, and you'll never know what else she might unexpectedly excel at.

Ui just happens to be amazingly capable in areas her onee-san isn't and ends up being something of a doting sibling. I don't think this puts Ui down in any way either, and instead, I thought it rather sweet that they shared such camaraderie despite their enormous differences.
