I'm not going to get into this debate again, but I'll just note that you should focus less on the prophecy plot and more on the subplot. You know, with Suou and her personal situation.

Comparing Suou with Madoka must be some kind of heresy, but only in my world :(

@Both of you

I feel like the second season being a bummer or not has been beaten like a dead horse. I tend to go back and forth depending on the particular day I'm thinking about it. Honestly, the further I get away from it the more I wish they hadn't done a second season myself though. I felt the first season was really good and ended on a nice melancholy, circular note. The second season just tried to do way too much in too little of time and the character's were so much... less then the ones in the first season. Suou just was not written with nearly as much depth as the characters in the first season. Kind of like Madoka Magica with Madoka not being particularly deep but having a great cast to round it out and a disturbing story to keep us grounded.

Anyways, not sure a mythology reference can save it as it just felt like a dumb prophecy plot (not a big fan of prophecy unless it's done really well). It kind of took a lot of the fun out of trying to guess where the plot was going and what the climax would be the way the first season left me guessing. There were a lot of characters working behind the scenes for different ends we were unsure of while the second season people were trying to make the prophecy come true or they were trying to stop it. Just too mcguffin centric :P.

However, I'm glad you enjoyed it and this is not meant to talk you out of enjoying it haha :D!

Darker than Black is such a great anime :) Code Geass is right up there with it. :)

To Zachari - after I finished DTB: Gemini of the Meteor, I was so confused, but then I searched around on the net and found out that it was based off of Japanese mythology--the goddess and god of creation and death: Izanami and Izanagi. After I learned all of that, I can honestly say that I love the second season :D

I wish I had someone to watch this with.
Yeah, Code: Geass is more of a "throw action at your face" kinda thing. DTB, keeps you thinking...

Anyone else think season two was kinda a bummer? :(
