Waltz of the Dead
So the last two days I’ve spent working on this piece I’ve named Waltz of the Dead. I’ve played it for awhile on the piano, but the song itself has always been orchestral in my head. There’s a bit of a story that I think of as I’m playing and listening to this song. A boy (the piano theme) goes out to visit the grave of the girl he loved (the flute) and she appears from the ground as a ghost. Than lots of ghosts appear in all different shapes sizes and types to join the two lovers in a ghostly waltz. The music builds up to a climax centered around the flute and the piano’s dance until the other ghosts start to disappear leaving only the two of them in each others arms. Finally she too departs back to her grave leaving the boy alone in front of her grave.
You of course don’t have to imagine any of that but I find it intensly more enjoyable picturing the movie in my head.
Without further quaffling I’m pleased to present waltz of the dead as performed by the Melody Assistant Instruments.
