Thanks Giving!

I guess it’s been a year since my last thanksgiving post and I must admit some things have changed. Despite my long hiatuses I have a few people who return to my website time and time again to devour my often lack luster posts. I must admit this requires a vast amount of perseverance and goes above and beyond the social contract. I am extremely grateful to you because, for me at least, I can find no greater joy then expressing my thoughts on a median that generally lacks discussion outside of the standard cuteness spectrum. Thus, today of all days I would like to call attention to these people and express my thanks. Even though you are few you constantly refuel my interest in our unique genre.
So just for today I will stop complaining and think up some of the things I’m thankful for while posting some pictures from my favorite animes.
1. Good acting: This is kind of a weird way to start the list I know, but lately I’ve been super appreciative of good acting. When the actor draws you into their role and makes you feel the broad range of emotions the story is telling you. Truthfully scenarios have a lot to do with it too, but to truly feel like you are someone else… that is the first step to world peace my friend. This is equivalent to good anime directors with good voice actors.
2. Lies that are good online drugstore and honesty that is good: I enjoy when people say things when they honestly have the other persons benefit in mind. Sometimes you need to tell a person the truth in order to prevent the person phentermine embarrassment, sometimes you need to tell them a lie because they need the confidence. I really admire the people who only have someone they care about’s best interest in mind. Now this isn’t a perfect art and lies and truth can be somewhat relative. For instance when a girl asks your opinion about a particular dress making her look fat (Cliche I know). The situation varies for instance you might want to avoid embarrassing the girl later by letting her know that the dress isn’t particularly flattering. If the girl is considerably arrogant and needs to know she’s not perfect you might also choose to let her know the truth. On the other hand if the girl isn’t confidant in her appearance and every dress will probably make her look overweight than the correct response is probably “You look beautiful”. I’m going to pretend I’m channeling your spirit and am getting another answer. I think you’d say “Don’t change the dress, I’ll change instead”: A particularly self sacrificing position and worthy of someone I so admire. If you truly love the girl then you will find her beautiful no matter what the perspective so it doesn’t matter what dress she wears. I can point out that the girl might need more than just your acceptance though and might truly want society to accept her. In that case, you must try to help her reach an understanding with society to the best of your ability even if it means trying to think from the party goer’s perspective. As we can see from a simple case, the question of whether to lie or be honest is a complicated question. I guess I would choose to truly know your partner. Often times there is an answer they want and an answer that is best for them (Most of the time the answer is the same and should be given), on the other hand as long as your intentions are good I believe that there is no wrong answer: As long as you’re honestly trying to help you are someone I like!!
3. Taco Bell: Self explanatory

4. Green Eyes: I want them and that’s all I have to say about that. My eyes are almost green, but the stupid brown around the center usually overpowers the green.
5. Emotional Support: Sometimes we all just need someone to be on our side regardless of whether we’re justified or not. I don’t mind someone telling me I’m wrong in an argument or that they don’t agree with me. I just want them to still be my friend at the end of the day. Perhaps that isn’t the best way to put it. I guess it’s kind of like saying unconditional love.
6. My great aunt Yvonne whom I’ve never met: Probably the saddest thing about my grandmother having a stroke is the reminder of her younger sister who died in a plane crash before my parents were born. She was supposedly a genius which I’ve heard many times. From the way my grandmother describes her I’m sure I would have loved her very much: Which means my grandmother loved/s her very much: Which is heartbreaking.

7. The English Language: Oh come on you know you love it too. It’s so satisfying to read someone who has mastered prose. I quiver with excitement, but even more than that I love
8. A good story: When I’m feeling, however I’m feeling, a story that can capture me and make me laugh, cry, or even not eat all day brings me such joy. I think everyone has an interesting story they just need a better grasp of Dustin’s List #7 to tell it better. The way some people tell you about the most mundane things can really capture your imagination. I can think of a few people who can make me laugh when they tell me how they ate their breakfast.
9. The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy: The introduction begins like this. “Space” it says “is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-boggingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to Space. Listen…” and so on.
10. Friendship: How can people care for each other when we’re truly such selfish beings? No matter how you look at it, isn’t it wonderful that we’re programmed to feel lonely when we’re alone. That’s going to come out as sarcastic, but we’re forced to reach out to others. Now I’m not necessarily the best example of this, but I can certainly appreciate it :).
Thus concludes a list of ten things that I’m particularly thankful for on this thanksgiving. I appreciate order cheap pills you taking some time from your life and sharing it with me and I hope we can continue sharing our time long into the future. If this is particularly sappy I’m writing it at 1:00 A.M. after getting three hours of sleep the previous night. I hope you can let me off the hook. As normal I’ll leave this post with a picture of Yin, the embodiment of this blog: A blind look at emotions: Slowly coming to grips with our own humanity. Until next time

Great entry! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in my part of the world (I’m not sure I really even know what the whole thing is about), but I like the idea of a day dedicated to thanksgiving :)
I also really like point 2. I really think there’s not enough of it going around, at least where I live. People have a tendency to center on themselves and live with the indifferent principle of “as long as *I* don’t do wrong”. Those who do go on to shift focus towards that someone else and think about what’s good for that someone I think are truly great and worth giving thanks for. I think you summed it up excellently: “As long as you’re honestly trying to help you are someone I like!!”.
Incidentally, I also find that this (focusing on someone else, ‘honestly trying to help’, being kind) is a theme that recurs in anime more than many other kinds of media/entertainment I find myself exposed to, and is a big part of the reason I’m into anime :)
Hmmm, I should probably get round to reading Hitchhiker’s guide to the Universe at some point. Anyway, thanks for the pleasant read. And did I mention that you have really awesome pictures? :)
Thanks! I really like these pictures myself. Quite a few of them are backgrounds in my Windows 7 theme.
Thanksgiving is a pretty fun holiday. Mainly we overdose on turkey but we also normally take the time to remember what we’re thankful for.
I’ve thought a lot about point 2 because people often say honesty is the end all when really it can hurt. Normally I find honesty to be intensely selfish and self gratifying. Thus the consideration for the other person should definitely be present. People trying to help each other is quite present in anime :). It’s this help going badly that leads to many a laugh. Here’s to hoping for more laughs in the future.
Happy Thanksgiving, though this comes a day late.
Great post Dustin, it reminded me to think of what I am thankful for (more so than the day itself). At least in my experience, Thanksgiving is a lot of prepartor work. Getting the food ready, welcoming the guests, cleaning up–they all seem to eclipse the short time of reflection we ought to be doing.
So to add my two cents to your list:
First cent: Great Music – Just like a great story, a great musical piece is incredibly stirring. In it’s own way it takes you through an emotional ride and leaves you wishing there was more of it to hear.
Second cent: Good teachers – I don’t think I’ve come to appreciate a good teacher until just recently when I’ve had to deal with so many that aren’t. Teachers teach, but great teachers inspire.
And thank you Dustin for your posts! A lot of people I know have a shallow attachment to anime. It’s nice to know someone who also sees deeper meaning in this medium.
Lastly… we can all be thankful for Taco Neck Syndrome!
My favorite is 10. I would be one hell of a sad, sad human being if it were not for my friends.
Then comes 7. Because I would not be able to express my feelings in writing any other way. Language is a powerful tool, even when it is being used as a toy. I just step back and think how amazing it is to be able to communicate in this way, and it blows my mind wide apart.

Oh, and good pics there too. defiantly gonna save some of those.
Oh, and it’s really nice to see another fan of Hitchhikers Guide… and taco bell, for that matter.
Thanks guys!
Music is certainly a wonderful part of any composition. I loved Darker than Black for its music and surprisingly even though it was repetitive I loved Gurren Lagann’s Liberate me from Hell. I do appreciate the deeper moments but I do like the mindless humor sometimes too. Nyan Koi has been a guilty pleasure.
@Dai1313 The Hitchhiker’s guide has extracted quite a few chuckles from me throughout the years. Taco Bell is just delicious.
I knew it…you’re only my friend cause of my eyes. Hmm, I think I posted something similar on Facebook.
I think you did too, but I think your my friend for many other and better reasons.
This was fun to read. Great job writing it as always. Good stories are the best thing in the world and they are the basis for a lot of thing’s I love. I don’t know what I’d do with my free time if I didn’t have a good book or manga to read, or how much fun I’d really have with my friends if we didn’t have all our crazy stories to tell about how my cat took off with my toast at breakfast or how my bestfriend’s driving test went. Stories just make life so much better.
I’m thankful for your posts  my family, friends, life and DTB! Great Post BTW. I love Taco Bell too! OMG! It’s the best I love spicy food. Did you go shopping on Black Friday? I went to the movies and saw Ninja Assassin and went shopping. The malls were so crazy! I saw people fighting for this nerf gun in Toy R Us. So yeah…I had a good break. I g2g and study 4 the SAT’s C ya! ;-)
Oh good luck on the SAT. I got a new blackberry curve for free this Black Friday but I didn’t do much shopping besides that. I’m embarrassed to admit that I really, really want to see Ninja Assassin… Is it any good?
Why embarrassed? It was good. I liked it Although the critics hated it… But then again they’re critics… The only problem is the blood is CG so it looks fake but the fight scenes are awesome and the main character is smex.
I don’t know what smex means, but I can take a few guesses :). I’ll probably see it over Christmas Break.
