The Winner: Toradora

I briefly considered naming the Romance category: Oh, I guess I do have a heart because I’m not cringing at the set up. I ended up having to throw it out because it was too long.

Of all the categories to fill the Romance category was by far the easiest. I still love Toradora and haven’t questioned its victory at all.

This series helped me get my feet wet in the anime blogging world, but more than that it had a fascinating way of delving into characters. Although in hindsight I might think the outcome was obvious, I remember order cheap pills being not so sure at the time. I guess everything looks contrived in hindsight :).

It beat out its chief competitor Spice and Wolf because it had a unique approach to the love question. It showed us that love is multifaceted and even though Ryuji and Taiga ended up with each other it wasn’t so contrived as to tell us there wouldn’t be problems and they couldn’t have been with Minori or Kitamura. Toradora also presented us with the group mentality.

More than anything else I hate online ampicillin the love stories where two people are so into each other nothing else in the world matters, because other things in the world do matter. Kitamura’s love for the President affected everyone in the group: Taiga who loved Kitamura, Ryuji who trys to help Taiga in her love but also is Kitamura’s best friend, Minori who wants everyone to be happy, and Ami who can’t stand Kitamura acting like a little kid but also doesn’t appreciate the drama. Toradora’s characters were deep in a way that left other characters drowning. When I remember Toradora I remember people who found love, I remember that sickly sweet feeling you get in the pit of your stomach that first time. Toradora = Love!

If all that wasn’t enough it also has its moments of comic genius the diet pills and never fails to entertain. Throw in some awesome OP’s and ED’s and you’ve got unforgettable.

Congratulations Tordora on winning the best Romance

The runner up: Spice and Wolf II

I considered this show in a couple of categories with the general feeling that it was good, but not really worth placing in the top two (when compared with what else was available). However, Lawrence and Horo’s relationship has always held a special place in my heart. Unlike other romances that start with appearances Horo and Lawrence’s relationship starts with a mutual loneliness that develops into something more.

Horo and Lawrence are tested like other characters, but in the end their relationship boils down to trust. He doesn’t have to always protect her, nor does she have to protect him. In the end isn’t that what all good relationships are: That little spark of affection and trust. zithromax buy online Even though Spice and Wolf order online tabs has the merchant element, ultimately, it will always have the relationship between Horo and Lawrence overriding everything and carrying us through. The second season really tested them too.

Congratulations to the runner up Spice and Wolf for best Romance.

FUNimation said it was Holo in an interveiw because I guess a lot of people were asking. At any rate it’s a great anime :D

I’d pick ToraDora for my No.1 choice of Romance too! Likewise, I find romance stories where the couple is so absorbed in one another to be stale and cliché. Yes, the depth of their love is understandably profound but somehow, that kind of romance has lost its sentimental value for me (or maybe I’m just being an ignorant hag when it comes to this sort of issues lol).

What made ToroDora truly appeal to me was the colorful combination of its character’s emotional journeys, dynamics and chemistry. Each of them started off differently i.e. falling in love with different partners especially in the case of Ryuuji and Taiga, but thanks to the influences and interactions with those around them, they gradually came to realize things that had been inconspicuous to them all this while. It’s not just about two lovers. It’s about a group of friends. Friends who learned to give one another that extra push and support when the time counts. And it’s not only Ryuuji and Taiga who were affected. Everybody else was too; in particular Minori and Ami who I thought played imperative roles in helping Ryuuji and Taiga’s romance blossom. I suppose it’s thanks to the earlier web of romance they’ve been entangled in – Ryuuji having a crush on Minori, Minori realizing her love for Ryuuji later, and Ami having feelings for Ryuuji herself. For me, the best part of the later developments was the two girls getting fed up with Ryuuji beating around the bush and they simply took matters into their own hands to make it come true. That was hilarious but heartwarming at the same time.

I love romance stories like this. Romance doesn’t need to be deep, sappy and melodramatic. Light-hearted and inspirational work wonders too.
