Like the last 4 episodes the Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya. I would at least go checkout those and Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody (as Bamboo Leaf has quite a bit of importance for the movie). I never quite went back to watching it, and I feel no need to, even now. I'll just enjoy the first season, enjoy the novels, and wait for the movie. So they needed to fill 4-5 eps with something but decided that if they were gonna troll at all they were gonna be manly about it and rack up 8 full troll episodes and downsize everything else for more lulz. Yeah, Haruhi Season 2 disappointed but I'm starting to think it's because they were originally going to put Disappearnace of Haruhi in it and when they decided to make the movie instead they suddenly had to fill 4 or 5 episodes worth of content with something. Than some brilliant fellow went: "Wait guys, I don't think you quite understand. Endless Eight is a time loop". This man drew blank stares from around the room as he waited for their comprehension "So we can put up the same episode over and over again". There was a faint hum throughout the room, but obviously something had stirred inside all of them. They just weren't sure what. And thus we got 8 episodes of Endless Eight.
