I order cheap pharm watched Angel Beats! yesterday and the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya today.

Stick a fork in me I’m done. I don’t think I”ll ever recover. I shouldn’t watch good anime during the school year because my mind can’t stop thinking about either of these amazing series. Just how good is Kyoto Animations? Just how good is P.A. Works? KyoAni had me worried after the second season of Haruhi, but then they delivered a movie like that. What happened to our failing median? Where are all of my complaints about the moe factory? Where is the depthless anime? I need to know because my world just shifted. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch anything mediocre this week (or concentrate for long periods of time).

No, I’m not going to spoil the movie; I would never perform the disservice. I will say that even if you are an avid light novel reader (or should I say especially if you’re so entrenched in the Haruhi-verse to be an avid light novel reader) you will still be blown away… BLOWN AWAY!

I thought I couldn’t watch the awful quality of a camrip for about 2 minutes after starting the movie. This was however followed by me thinking “There is no way in hell I’m waiting 6-12 months for a DVD release”. Apparently the camrip is very watchable. Besides the 2 or 3 moments it goes out of focus I didn’t have any trouble seeing the amazing job Kyoto did with the animation and the sound was really quite decent. I will buy this DvD when it comes out in the U.S. but until then I was really happy the camrip was available.

Your post title articulates to a precise dot what I am expecting the film to be. And because I’m a perfectionist with anime I expect to be really (really really really..) good, no camrips for me :) I’ll wait like I waited for (and am still waiting for) Eva 2.0.

I’m glad to hear you thought it was great. Haruhi will always hold a special place in my heart not because I am a Haruhiist but because it was the first non-shonen anime I watched it thus it was the first time I REALLY enjoyed anime and decided to become a more serious fan.

I will probably watch this cam-rip sometime late this week and I’ll enjoy it anyway, I’ll get over the Haruhi withdrawal by watching more great anime I hope. I’ll let you know how it goes, thanks to you I am plenty excited!
